Bill, I agree with Drew. The best application is a simple query and I'm not sure I know why you have had problems constructing one.
That aside, just for grins, I do think you can do pretty close to what you were asking about in Calc. It is klugie, but it works: 1) have your data all on one tab - as you suggested 2) on tab two, copy the field names ( the column headings) from your data tab. Do this on the same line as they appear on the data tab (not required, but my experience says it is the better personal policy) 3) on tab two again, set each cell below your header equal to it's corresponding data element on the tab one. Example: if your first header row is row 2 (on both tab one and two), then the first row of data on tab one is row 3 and the first data element would be cell 3A. Therefore set cell 3A on tab two equal to tab one, cell 3A (easy to just enter "=" then select cell 3A on tab one and press "enter"). 4) Repeat that process on all other data cells by copying the formula across and down. My advise is to make sheet two many rows longer than your data page so when you add new data on that page you do not have to continually copy down tab two - you already have provided for the new data to be transferred to your tab two. 5) Set your filter on tab two the way you wish and leave it. 6) add new data to your data tab one 7) go to your tab two and refresh your data (Data>Refresh) Again, it works, but it is a travesty not to use the right tools. A database is the better tool for this application. Best regards, Steve On 12/2/07, bill purvis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi, > I'd like to use Calc as a simple database.
