1. Open the documents that you have created one at a time. 2. After you have opened the odt document click: File|Save As 3. Select the File type and select Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP 4. Look for the "Automatic file name extension" box & make sure the box has a check mark in it -- if it does not, check the box. 5. Save your file -it's now in MS Word .doc format & others with the proprietary MS Office program can read the document. Now that you've converted all the odt's to .doc's, here is how you can do this permanently/automatically: On the OOo Toolbar click: Tools|Options|Load/Save|General On the right side you will see "Default file format". Change as follows: Document type Always save as Text document Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP Spreadsheet Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP Presentation Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP Now when you save a Writer document, Calc spreadsheet, or Impress presentation they will be saved in the MS formats as above. Unfortunately by doing that you will not be able to take advantage of OpenDocument features, but given your situation this is probably quite OK for you and your mother. Now, one more setting: Tools|Options|Load/Save|Microsoft Office Tick each box under L and S. cc'd to unsubscribed: hleecato Please *only* reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is a global mailing list; please consider subscribing so that you can view responses from other users.
