Seconding Dan's primary key suggestion. I had tables I couldn't edit on both Linux and Windows XP Pro "for no reason" until I found that not having a primary key is reason enough for Base not to enable editing. Once primary keys were created editing became available for the previously troublesome tables on both platforms.
