Hope that you have gotten started with your writing. If not then I'm guessing you might not be using the program. You write, "All I'm getting is your words and no space to do my writing..." So I'm guessing you're talking about messages others have sent. If that is correct then you haven't started using the Writer program. Try the following... The steps to start writing vary depending on your computer's operating system. Most people's computers have some version of Windows. If your computer was purchased anytime after 2002 and before the end of last year its operating system is probably Microsoft Windows XP. Presuming you do have Windows XP the steps to open and begin using the letter writing program, called OpenOffice.org Writer, are as follows... - click on the Start button at the bottom left of the screen - point at the "Programs" item on the menu that appears - point at the "OpenOffice.org" item on the next menu that appears - click on the "OpenOffice.org Writer" item on the next menu that appears If you don't see the OpenOffice.org items in the two places described above then the program has not been installed. That's a different nut to crack. - Now that Writer is open click anywhere in the white space and then begin typing. - When you're done click the 'x' in the little box at the right end of the solid color bar that's above where you just did all your typing. - A message will be displayed that asks whether to save, discard, or cancel - - click Save and type a name to the right of the "File name" label to save the work - - click Discard to throw out what you've just done - - click Cancel to take you back to your work so you can make more changes For more very basic guidance try the Writer Tutorial in Pictures here... http://inpics.net/tutorials/writer2/basics.html It may look a bit different than what's on your computer because it was done with a Linux operating system Or this tutorial, more words but still plenty of pictures... http://www.tutorialsforopenoffice.org/tutorial/First_Time_User_OpenOffice_Writer.html You can also read through the first 22 pages of this guide which cover the Writer basics. The guide is long so after you get through the basics there are more than 400 other pages that can help you learn everything you might want about Writer... http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0200WG-WriterGuide.pdf There's a getting started guide here that covers all parts of OpenOffice not only Writer. It is rather long as well but Chapter 6 from pg 73 - 97, only 25 pages, covers Writer... http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0100GS-GettingStarted.pdf Good luck. Hope this is helpful.
