So, does this guy really burn me...no - the guys on eBay that are actually selling the web address for downloads...now that burns me up... I made a suggestion at the forum that we might want to organize a letter writing ( email ) campaign to eBay asking them to ban this type of activity.

Why is that? If a person is supposedly smart enough to connect to the
internet and use ebay to bid on something, then they should be smart
enough to use a major search engine such as Google or Yahoo to look up
the information about the item that they are bidding on and buying.

Actually I've nothing against someone selling a download link to fools
as long as they support it afterwards. What burns me is when someone
sells a download link and then refers the fool to this list for support.

One question I have, are the links being left in the private label packages to the OpenOffice.org site(s).

example
- check for updates ( almost a slap in the face of their 'customers' isn't it ) - Help file links for documentation ( this will become more prevalent in future versions of the package if I understand correctly )

I think I already know the answer.

Along with our discussions I note that this issue of 'Identity' is not lost on the corporate players - SUN, Novell, RedHat, Canonical, IBM - where that might lead, who knows.

Of course that is a slightly different question then 'Some one sells a link to a person for downloading vanilla OpenOffice.org' - that is just an example of the old saying: "There is a sucker born every minute." (s ic)
