C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data \OpenOffice.org2 for "My Extensions"

Okeh, i should have mentioned that i use a Mac. I checked in ~/ Library/Application Support as it seemed a likely candidate [There are folders there called "OpenOffice.org" and "OpenOffice.org2", but no contents in either that correspond to a search for "Extensions". Uh, hold on. If i search for *name* of the extension, i eventually find the whole zip file buried in an obscurely named cache directory five layers below the OpenOffice.org2 folder. Evidently that would also answer my second question, 'cuz that folder would remain even if OO gets deleted/overwritten.

Note to help file maintainers: can we get this added to the documentation, that it is no longer necessary to keep an extension zip file after installing? It also might reduce user tension if we mention that the extensions will continue after updating OO. The dox don't mention this mundane stuff at all, only an overview of the differences in "User Extensions" and "Shared Extensions". Wait... I guess what i've been talking about/looking into was a User Extension. Apparently a Shared Extension might get lost when OO is overwritten?

I don't mean to get pedantic about all this, but i was recently frustrated to discover that the behavior goes the other way when adding clip art to the gallery. I downloaded some clip art to my "desktop" for perusal, added the best to my gallery, then cleared the desktop. Result: OO keeps thumbnails of the clips in gallery [must be another cache], but can't actually use the pictures, because they aren't there anymore. This was very frustrating as the help files make no mention of how these files are handled. I can certainly think of good reasons why it should be done this way, but it is not helpful to surprise the user!

Excuse me for butting in, but I'm interrupt-driven.
