But if you do follow the mailing list guidelines you will not repeatedly get flamed. At some point you have to consider if swimming upstream is worth it. Having said that i personally will follow thread convention, ie top-post on a top-post thread if i have something to contribute, because newbies cannot be expected to know better. The only time i will alter this is when my snippage allows it without breaking flow. The only thing that makes it hard for me to reply is where individuals bloody-mindedly break this method to superimpose their own preference in a case where the other method (whether top, bottom or interspersed) has been used. Mr Troll/Idiot does not do this. > I was just summarizing the list guidelines (the ones that were in your > massive snip). that tell people to intersperse their comments, which > in effect say to not top post. [quote source="http://www.openoffice.org/ml_guidelines.html"] Members are encouraged to participate in any mailing list as long as they honor Open Source principles of respect to other members and to the project at hand. Rudeness is not acceptable. Be polite. [quote] *** To the point *** Marco is quite entitled to remind people to follow list guidelines, as long as he does not do so rudely or obtrusively. Quoting the guideline URL as well would help Marco. It does seem that interspersed is the list guideline, in addition to making sense to me with my 200+ list emails a day from multiple lists, so regular contributors should adhere to it in preference to their own favourites. -- Michael All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well - Julian of Norwich 1342 - 1416 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
