    Open the .odt file in OOo. Use File > Save As to open the Save As window. 
It should have the name of the file in the File Name box. Below it is the 
File Type dropdown list. [The Default value is OpenDocument Text (.odt).] 
Open this dropdown list and select Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc). Also 
make sure the Automatic file name extension is checked (ticked). Then click 
the Save button.
    There is a difference between File > Export  and File > Save as.
