Another excellent free AV programme (according to Shadowserver's virus stats - http://tinyurl.com/3b88qq) is Avira's Antivir Personal Edition Classic (http://www.free-av.com/). The popup that suggests purchase of versions with additional features (anti-spyware, etc) can be a pain, but the anti-virus protection offered seems to be both comprehensive and reliable in a fashion that we here in Sweden regard as typical of German products....
