Hi,

I also have Norton; specifically 2006, and downloaded OOo 2.3.1 ~ 2 week
ago on an XP Pro 2.7 GHz P4 machine:

For grins, I just did a Norton scan on that same zip. It took it 115
Seconds to scan 7,394 files. No warnings or errors, came up clean (as
expected).
I run full system scans every night and they haven't been catching
anything nor has it been stalling anywhere. I have a rather large
system to it takes a couple hours for the AV to run, but per the log,
the run times haven't changed from pre- 2.3.1.

My images_crystal.zip shows a size of 4,954K (5.0 Meg) here. Is yours
in the
same area?

You could have file corruption that makes it appear to be a problem
file. Or you could actually have some sort of malware running you're
not aware of. How about this?

Try an AV scan from Explorer: Highlight the zip file, right click and
select to let Norton scan it. If it passes there, it *should* pass
during the system scan.
If it fails, I'd try to replace the zip file.
Did you ever check the MD5 hash on your downloaded OOo files to
be certain nothing was corrupted? Assuming you downloaded it from OO.o,
of course. If it's from a CD it should be OK too, but ... stuff
happens.

   If it passes:
Rename the file to images_CrystalOLD.zip and see what happens
during another system scan. It may or may not stop on the same file.
If it
doesn't, then it's a case of something else actually causing the
problem.
Don't forget to rename the file back to the original name!

Let us know what happens. There is more can be done, but right now
there are too many different things to go after anything singly.

FYI, there IS an option to have the AV skip checking certain specified
files but I don't recommend it as it simply opens a hole to malware.

You don't say how long this has been going on either, so that begs
another question: Have you done a Restart or better yet a Cold Boot
since this problem appeared? If not, I'd highly recommend it; sometimes
it can fix a myriad of problems.

HTH

Twayne
