I think that many of us, like John Shelton, do find configuring OO Writer
more complicated than configuring MS Word ; specific instances have been
discussed on the issue forum and I get the impression that things are
gradually getting better with respect to the user interface (note her also
Dotan's comments the superiority of MS Office 2007 to MS Office 2003, with
which I agree - here is something from which we can learn). As for the
so-called «incompatibility issue», Writer documents can be saved and
exported in doc as well as pdf format in addition to the default odf format,
so sending these to others using so-called «legacy» systems should not pose
an insurmountable problem. The same is, I believe, true of graphics....
