[users] Microsoft Excel on my Dell Dimension3100C

I have Microsoft Works only at the moment and I require Microsoft Excel to be 
able to download files in Excel that associates have been e-mailing me.
Please can I use ' open office ' to download Microsoft Excel on to my home 
computer/
