In defense of Lise, at this point in time, I think I would also include
the Mac within the term "PC" since it is personal computer and the term
PC should no longer be restricted to an IBM "original" brand. At the
time, there were several "PC"s.

I don't know about NZ and OZ but my experience is that "hoover", "biro",
"fridge" etc. are peculiarly British. Americans don't seem to use those
words at all and they are certainly not used in Europe.
But I myself would still not apply the term "PC" to a Mac. Perhaps I ought
to
relax more. :-(
I wouldn't either, which just proves the power of IBM's [erstwhile]
marketing muscle.
