Windows XP includes a Microsoft program called "WordPad." It will open those files. For a standard Windows installation you should find it if you follow "Start > All Programs > Accessories" menu path. If you don't see it then follow "Start > Run" and type "write" in the space then press enter. Once the program is opened you will be able to open your files. Then save them in a suitable format, I believe RTF would be appropriate. Finally open them with your word processor. I believe, but am not certain, that Wordperfect will read RTF. Lastly, this is a support list for OpenOffice. I suggest you consider downloading OpenOffice (free from www.openoffice.org) or order it on CD. A number of vendors offer it on CD for a small charge and links to them can be found at the site I've provided as well. Once you have it you can install it on as many computers as you wish and can distribute it freely among friends, associates, acquaintances, etc. The version of OpenOffice found at the link I provided has an import filter for RTF and for some version of WordPerfect. Plus in addition to a word processor, equivalent to Wordperfect, it also includes a spreadsheet, presentation and database program. All free as well.
