What version of OO are you running? I've not found very much conflicting
between the latest version and MS Office...
I also have not had any real trouble with Word 2003 or earlier .doc files
reading it with OpenOffice.org 2.x. I have saved it with OOo and opened it
with Word, and the other way around. The only real trouble is when the
format
of the Word document is very complex. At that point, sometimes getting a
Word 2003 doc file to be read by a Word 2000 program does not work very
well either.
I can even use 99% of the MS Word templates on MS's web site, without any
trouble.
Send us what version of OpenOffice.org, Word, and such so these great people
who know every detail on how to fix problems, can figure out what you can
do.
I know they helped me several times, and I have been working with PC's since
they came out.
