Dear HS,

Test case attached with current .tex output and .pdf output.
The input to "OO" is the .odt file.

Best,

I just opened the attached .odt file, and all of the equations look just fine. I'm using OO.o 2.3.1 on Win XP Pro.

Sirs,

I found a French site on the Web that has a Java JRE
"jre-1_5_0_03-windows-i586-p" version...It installs
OK on my Windows ME, HP 7855 Pavilion PC Desktop
( old machine but reliable ).. with Explorer is Ver. 6.0.2800....

It works just fine with OO and produces the LaTex .tex file.....

Thanks........
Best,
Dr. Henry Makowitz ( Ph.D. )

Dear Dr. Makowitz,
at 07.03.2008 06:05, you wrote:

I used "OOo_2.3.1_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US".
have installed Java JRE "j2re-1_3_1-win-i". Also, OO
is configured to USE the Java JRE:( RE: Start OpenOffice
Writer. Choose Extras - Options - OpenOffice.org - Java.
"Make sure "use a Java runtime environment" is checked,
and that the installed JRE is also checked." ) This is there
and OK.

I am using Windows ME, and a HP 7855 Pavilion PC Desktop
( old machine but reliable ).. The Explorer is Ver. 6.0.2800....

Note that a more current Java JRE version
"jre-1_5_0_15-windows-i586-p-s" will not install.
Well this is most probably the problem. The author of the
writer2latex converter writes that it needs jre-1_4.. or jre-1_5
You could try whether the 1.4 version will install:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html -choose the second item
(JRE), not hte first (JSE).

The only other thing I know of which might help you to convert your
article to LaTeX is the word2tex plugin for MS Word
http://www.word2tex.com/
This however costs 99$ or, with academic discount, 45$.

Kind regards,
