I tried another small document. So here is what you need to do to get
good LaTeX exports:
1. Use Heading styles in your OOo document for section headings.
2. Use Math Formulas in your OOo document.
3. Format your document's body text consistently.
These basic instructions will get you started on a structured document
and exports to LaTeX will be much much better. Feel free to ask here if
you have further questions regarding this.
