No. You need to download the whole thing. In theory you can then install
only the components (Writer, Impress, Calc, ...) you need but it's not
recommended. The amount of RAM isn't really the issue unless you insist on
doing many things at once and even then lack of RAM will only slow you down
assuming you have enough disc space. When you run, say Writer, it does not
also load Calc or Impress although any component may use pieces of other
components depending on exactly what you do.

Ahh sorry, I just re-read your message. RAM isn't the same as disk space.
You can easily install OpenOffice on your D drive. When you run the
installer you'll eventually be asked if you want to do a complete or a
custom installaion. Choose custom. You'll then get a screen that, in the top
part, asks whichcomponents you want to install (don't tinker) and, in the
bottom part, lets you change the "path" where you want the software to be
installed; that's what you need to do. Just change the "C:\" at the
beginning to "D:\" (that whole thing - "d:\program files\openoffice\....."
is called a path). if you are asked if you want to create a "directory", say
yes. "Directory" is another word for "folder".

Please excuse me if I've been over detailed. I do not intend to be
condescending, just to make sure you understand so that all goes smoothly.
