I am a new user running OpenOffice 2.3. in a Windows XP environment. IE (Internet Explorer) is rejecting all internet inquires originating from within OpenOffice applications. For example, when attempting to Register following the installation of the OpenOffice suite, IE is opened and responds with error Cannot find openoffice.org/welcome/registration20.html. IE then sits idle in Connecting mode. The openoffice.org address however has been loaded into the drop down address bar and when selected IE then goes directly to the OpenOffice.org Home site. When the extensions are attached manually, IE then takes you to the Registration site. I have found this on all other attempts to get to an internal OpenOffice location vie IE from within OpenOffice. Is this a bug? Thanks, Pete J.

I would suggest that you download FireFox from http://www.mozilla.com. It's a FAR, FAR better browser!! Make it your default browser and you'll not only have a better browser but it won't barf on requests from OpenOffice. You can go into OO "options" and let it know that your default browser is FireFox.

Works fine with IE 7 on XP/pro

But I do agree USE FireFox as your default browser.
It is more secure as well. Plus you can get add-ons that make
even more secure, like Adblock, Noscript, McAfee Site Advisor,

plus OpenOffice.org Menu, translator, pdf download, and much
much more. Themes are not bad either.

One great feature that is both anoying and more secure is there
is a dialog box error/warning message when you are trying
to load a web page saved on the hard drive, called by an application.
This way a bad program will not load into your browser and run a
bad script without you having the chance to stop it. Try that with
IE.
