I have tried to download open office from the Sun website. After over 9 hours (I am on dial up) I got the message "download complete". The file is just over 80 MB. When I tried to install, I got the message "NSIS error - the installer is corrupted or incomplete". I repeated the download but got the same message when I attempted to run. R Foreman

As you've noticed, downloading via dial up modem takes several hours. Unfortunately, over that period of time, a dial up connection may fail, often due to usage limits imposed by the ISP. The alternative is to download at some other location, such as work or library, where a broadband internet connection is available, and then copy it to a CD or a USB connected drive, to bring home. Another method is to use a file transfer method that can handle interrupted downloads. If that is not possible, you can buy a CD from vendors listed here: http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/index.html#cdrom. Please note we cannot vouch for any vendor. You might also find OpenOffice included on a DVD or CD inserted into some computer magazines.
