That's working fine for me with the different French dictionaries
(classic/reform/classic&reform) and OOo 3.0 Beta (devBEAm2)

I see that (3) is indeed a problem. Like Harold Fuchs, however, i think there was more than one way to solve this problem and that the chosen solution is highly likely to cause a lot of grief and frustration for the community. Saying that the system works with a national language does not indicate to me that it will work with the scores of technical dictionaries that are currently available only as .dic files.
