I have mac OS X 10.5
It came with X11 pre-installed.
I downloaded OO 2.4 this afternoon
I opened the openoffice.org icon that showed up on my desktop.
Then I dragged the OO icon onto the provided Applications shortcut.
>From Applications I tried to open it. Nothing, except the swirly pie thing and
>then nothing except it shows to be in use but I can't use, can't even find any
>of its applications.
So I tried to open it from my Dock. Same deal.

What am I missing? I've already tried to download OO twice today. If I need to
uninstall it and try again, do I do more than drag the icon from Applications
to the trash? And I would leave X11 alone in the Utilities?

All I really want is a Word-like word processor for free that is compatible
with Word.

Thanks in advance,
Matt
