We bought two new laptops with Vista Business 32 pre-installed. I updated the Java and it asked if I wanted to install OpenOffice, obviously I said Yes, waited two hours for it to download, tried to start it and it said "Wrong OS or OS Version". Now what?
Now what? Now just run the correct file to install the product.
Is there an Open Office version for Vista Business?
Yes: you very probably already have it. At 22:47 03/06/2008 +0200, Ian Samson wrote:
For all those who wrote in April 2007 about whether OO will run in vista, it doesn't.
It does, of course - for countless users around the world.
I spent 2 hours downloading it, only to be told "Wrong OS or OS Version". So now I am spending another 2 hours downloading the 3.0beta version because I cannot find anywhere on the OO.org site whether the 3.0beta will run on Vista Business 32. Stay tuned, you're likely to hear more from me as the research continues .....
No need for research: just run the correct file. The message you see is produced if you try to run instmsia or instmsiw from the unpacked files. That's not the way to do it. If you run the setup(.exe) file instead, OpenOffice should install without any problem.
