I hope XP dies and then more people will move to Linux. At least I hope
so. :)
I would dearly love to move completely to Linux, but until things like
USB
wireless adapters are sorted, then I'm afraid no. It took me over three
hours yesterday trying to get Kubuntu 8.04 to recognise my wireless
adapter
and I failed - so I just gave up I'm afraid, and will carry on with Vista
until it gets MUCH easier!
Which wireless adaptor? For a while the lack of support for a
particular Edimax USB wireless adaptor was one of the top Ubuntu bugs.
My neighbor had this particular adaptor, and now Kubuntu 8.04 (which
powers both our computers) runs it just fine. The 8.04 betas did not.
Realtek 8187b. I was trying to get it working in a WUBI install though -
would that have made a difference?
The Ndiswrapper install went OK, the install of the Win98 driver went OK,
all the modprobe commands gave no errors, but the adapter just didn't show
anywhere.
