Nearly all wireless adapters should work, but not out of the box. You
need to figure out the chipset. Most broadcom chipsets are now
supported by a native Linux driver, BUT the firmware is not installed.
For Ubuntu/KUbuntu you need to install b43-fwcutter. Fortunately, this
package on Ubuntu does contain the firmware. 

The worst case, you be to use a package called NDISWrapper. NDISWrapper
uses the Windows driver directly. Unfortunately, NDISWrapper is not as
easy and straightforward for the average computer user.  

But, in favor of the OP, unfortunately, many chipmakers ignore Linux
when they create their drivers requiring the Linux community to catch
up. Usually this can take about 6 months,
