OpenOffice can generate a PDF from a document. There should be an
icon on the tool bar to create a PDF. You can also click on File >
Export as PDF for more control of the output.
On re-reading your message, one question pops to mind. Did you actually
install OpenOffice? To install, you have to double click on that file
you downloaded. This will start the installation process and when
that's completed, you should have an OpenOffice folder and icons in your
Start menu.
