I am exclusively using European page sizes like A4, A5, C2 etc. Invariably
OO suggests US Letter, Legal or similar American standard sizes. I guess
that somewhere in OO is a definition which can be changed but I can't find
it. Can someone help, please?

I am using OO 2.3.0 with Linux Fedora 7.

Hello Erik,

First of all you should consider upgrading to version 2.4.1 which
contains several improvements compared to 2.3.0, but this is not the
answer to your problem :-)

I am very tempted to do that but then I'll have to abandon the ease of rpm installation.

I am a bit surprised by your email since I have downloaded the en_US
version (localization en_GB) and my default page is A4... maybe this
is a special feature of the Fedora 7 distribution...

So it generally is but I have the problem with labels (Avery A4). The page size comes up as "User" and it's not A4 (20,83 by 28,65 cm), so I'll have to change it every time.

Anyway, since the page size is defined in the hard coded default
template, you can easily solve your problem by replacing that default
with your own default.

Open a new document, change the page style to A4 (Format > Page) then
select File > Templates > save.
Give the template a meaningful name (eg. myDefault). Press OK.
Select now File > Templates > Organize, find your newly created
template and select it (should be under My Templates in the left hand
side list. Press the button Command and select the option Set As
Default Template.

I'll see if that works with labels.

From now on any new document will be in A4.

Note: if there are other things you would like to change such as page
margins, styles and so on that you want to apply as default you can of
course do it.

An additional page size problem is what the printer is instructed to use. That is "US-Letter" and it affects the placement of the labels on the sheet. So I usually have to change the printer settings also and I don't know how to do that in a general way. (And yes the printer's general option IS A4).
