comes up as "User" and it's not A4 (20,83 by 28,65 cm), so I'll have to change

Select another A4 Avery default, generate a new set of labels (it
doesn't matter if you use them or not), close and the next time it comes
up you should be back to A4 and at the last label that you used in the
wizard. I found this yesterday when generating custom labels (2.4.1
linux); the wizard always goes back the last used; at least in my case.
This doesn't change the fact that OO uses an odd page size when you select an A4
label sheet. This is just a way to circumvent what I believe is a bug. Same is
true when printing is initiated to "US letter" page size regardless of the
printer's option being set to A4 globally.
