You can find the Mac version of Openoffice.org here: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ Do some reading and chose whether you want the version that runs with the X11 windowing program (more reliable, but not very Mac-like), or the Aqua version that is in its Beta stages (not ready for srious production work). Personally, I use the Aqua beta version, without serious problems till now. The official release of the OOo Aqua for Mac is expected in September, but the actual versions (beta 1 and 2) are quite good. OpenOffice.org reads MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint files, can edit them and save them in MS format. OOo 3 will also deal with the docx, xlsx and pptx files. The OOo 2.4.1 doesn't do this (uless you use the Novell or some other enhanced version). Read more at the www.openoffice.org pages ( http://support.openoffice.org/index.html) Success! -- Guy using dutch OOo Aqua Beta 3.0.0 on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and brazilian OOo Aqua Beta 3.0.0 on an Intel MacBook Pro Leopard -- please reply only to [email protected] -- Dodoes can't afford to have headaches
