Simple / fast: Save the attachment to local disk (My Documents). From Windows
Explorer, right-click and choose "Open With..." then select the OOo tool
appropriate to the type. (Alternately, open the file from disk from an active
OOo session.)
Deeper / possibly better for longer term *if* you are not trying to co-exist MS
Office and OOo: through Windows Control Panel, change the file extension
associations of the target file type to use the appropriate OOo tool (write,
calc, etc.)
