Have a look at Tools-Options-General I suspect you will find you have
"Extended Tips" enabled. Uncheck that and things should be better.
Otherwise some details of OOo version and OS would help.

Thanks your interest. My Open Office is version is 2.3
I do not have "extended tips" also it isn't really a tip its the company
name etc., not even sure where this is coming from but it does not occur
on a blank sheet only a typed document which will come from a previous
"template" or report.
