Brian,
Thank you for your speedy response. As is often the case, asking the
question causes you to figure out the answer yourself, which I did. It's
like buying a replacement anything. It usually causes you to find the
original. :-)
Cheers and thanks,
John

When you drag the corner of components in the other drawing programs I've
used, it seems that the aspect ratio is maintained. You drag the side of
the object to change its shape. Not so in OO Draw. Even though "Keep
ratio" is checked in the Position and Size dialog box, that seems to apply
only when using the dialog box itself. Is there any way to change the
behaviour when dragging the corner of an element, short of submitting a
suggestion or bug report?
Yes. In general, if you hold down the Shift key whilst dragging the edges
or corners of an object, the aspect ratio is preserved in the change.
Indeed, all you need to do is to press and hold the Shift key at some
point before you complete the drag.
An extension of this is that if you hold down Shift whilst dragging to
create an element, it is restricted in some way. For example, rectangles
and ellipses become squares and circles.
I trust this helps.
