Hi all.
I've found some people asking about how to join/combine documents, but my
case is the opposite. I haven't been able to find any information about
this.
I have my Thesis work in only one document. The university's library is
asking me to give them an electronic version with each chapter in a
different file. (Both odt and pdf format)
I tried just to delete the text before/after each chapter, but the
openoffice crashes (sometimes in the first step, others in the second
one). If I persist, I finally get it.
The problems I have found with this approach are:
a) Have the problems with formating because the document has different
"page formats" all along. It has to be fixed manually each time.
b) Have to modify the first paragraph format and set the correct page
number ("Flujo de texto" tab), and the correct chapter number
("Numeración" tab). It sometimes "just" changes the space before that
chapter, so the pages wont brake exactly the same as the original document
does.
c) I discovered the footnote it's getting the wrong chapter data, so I
have to change it to fixed text.
The worst of all is that:
d) I discovered the references between different chapters disappear.
It will be a LOOOT of work to find every reference. There's no option to
"find reference" in openoffice writer.
I'm not worried about WORKING to do it, the problem is I'm with a lot of
pressure from the institute I studied at, in order to deal with all the
graduation proceedings quickly.
Does someone has any suggestion?
I wouldn't mind to uncompress the odt file and "fiddle" with it. Any thing.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
