I am currently using Open Office 2.2 on a Windows Vista computer. I
cannot open the program to get the version number due to the error
described below.
When I was using the Writer, Open Office crashed and a message told me
that it was closing down. On attempting to re-open the documents that
were open at the time I was provided with a window which listed the
recoverable files. It states "Press the 'start recovery' button to
start the recovery process....". This window cannot be closed, cannot
be resized in any way, but is bigger than my screen, therefore I am
unable to access the buttons that are (maybe) below the bottom of the
screen.
I am unable to move on from this point as Open Office will not open
until I take action in the current window. I have restarted the
computer but have run out of ideas.
I am not concerned about the files that were open when Open Office
crashed as they had been saved only seconds before the crash. I have
tested them on another computer and I have not lost anything, so
therefore do not need to recover these documents.
Can you please help me get past the built-in recovery process so that
I can use Open Office again?
Thank you,
Leone Woodcock
Sometimes it's handy to use keyboard controls. In this case, Tab will
move the cursor from the Start Recovery button to the Cancel button;
Enter will present the confirmation dialog for canceling; and another
Enter will complete the cancellation. That should clear things up for you!
