Thanks for the response! No I didn't save the file as html, that's how the file was when I opened in my /usr/share/fonts/noto folder on my pc, though at the time I didn't have a clue what I was supposed to expect (regarding what a .ttc file was actually composed of).

It brings me step further to know that the html is definitely strange to find. I almost doubt that it could truly be malicious because I suppose that font was embedded in a pdf, and it's a pretty standard pdf from a german government website that most people have to fill out at some point.

I suppose I'll look into it a bit more, and if I don't figure out what is going on, I'll just try again with a different pdf form.

Thanks again,

Jacob

Opening one of the files for which the exception was thrown (NotoSerifCJK-Regular.ttc, also attached) where an exception was thrown, it does seem to me that the file simply contains html

I suspect you right-clicked "save as" and so you saved a HTML file that redirects to the actual font. (I did not try to run that HTML file, for obvious security reasons).

I searched for the font and tried this:

https://github.com/getredash/snap/blob/master/snap-reference/fonts/NotoSansCJK-Regular.ttc

the left-click on "download".

(This is just one site, I have no idea if the font is correct and not some virus. I didn't find the font on google for some reason)
