It's the "exchange" part that fails for us, and that's handled by OpenChange.
As both Alessandro and Péter write, SOGo "sits on top" of your infrastructure, and it does a great job.
You have to learn about Postfix, Dovecot or Cyrus, MySQL or PostgreSQL, Apache, etc., but it's worth it.
