For somebody that wants the tools that come with SpamAssassin the
CPAN route seems to be the "only way". Um, I do have a spoof SA RPM
I use to keep RedHat happy if anybody wants it. FC4 thinks I am running
3.2.2 at this point.

If you can get the latest version of SA for your distro in an RPM I
would do that. If you can't I would use cpan.

I have a FC4 server and SA isn't being updated so I switched to cpan
to update to latest version and it worked perfectly.

I would guess you could just install the rpm over the cpan install but
I am not sure.

Hi guys,

is there any real advantage to using cpan or source code over rpms, if I
don't really do any code modifications etc to spamassasin?
Also in respect to that if I am currently running a cpan installed version
and then decide to just go RPM's so that maintaining the updates are easier,
is there any special proceedure I need to follow?
Do I need to uninstall one first etc?

Thanks!
