No, he has a point. The people with the problem are the customers. The bank is at best neutral and at worst couldn't care less.

Also, despite the amount of phishing, I think the vast majority of data leaks come from the banks themselves, or from some stolen laptop worth tens of thousands of customers's account info on it and no encryption.
