If you have "dimdim" installed, it's not malware: it's a remote
presentation/desktop sharing client like vncviewer, GoToMeeting, WebEx,
Citrix, etc.

It shouldn't be. If it comes with a server component, than it was
installed as a server. It's also possible that someone has hijacked your
computer and installed a mismash of remote-control software on your
machine. I might recommend a complete rebuild.

Really? DimDim is free and non-MS. What MS tool did you download to
uninstall it? AntiVirus 2009? ;)

The bottom line was that you had a program already bound to your TCP
port, and shutting down that program (in your case, uninstalling it)
freed-up the port.
