Searched and googled for a answer for couple of hours. I've installed and un-installed Tomcat 5.x and 6.x several times using the windows installer on the Tomcat Apache site on Windows XP.
I've started it as service, and not, manually, on port 80 and 8080. Stopped all other server related software. In all cases , when I point my various browsers (Firefox and Chrome) (proxies OFF) at http://localhost:8080or http://localhost/ or http://localhost:8080/example or /examples etc I get broken connection.
