That's the great thing about OSS... If you disagree strongly enough, then maybe you can write more stuff on the wiki. I think you're missing a good opportunity here: look through the code and figure out as much as you can. When you get stuck, _then_ you can ask questions. Expecting documentation for that kind of internal stuff is the passive and easy way out. It takes a little more time (for you) than just reading doc, but it's not all that bad to just set break points and see what happens. I'm sure you'll catch on very quickly.
