I wouldn't quite say that in 1.8RC1. It's quite stable IMO and we do need people to use it to know the area that we still need to improve (the new rendering core is quite stable, probably way more than the old syntax but there are some integration parts that we probably still need to work on). And it can be set on a page by page basis so you don't have to commit your full wiki to use it.
