It will be interesting to see how far the recession will deepen. And if the
metric issue will get some publicity as a reason for our exports being so
bad. Will Bush be a leader in promoting metric in the USA or a leader in
promoting FFU to the world? Or will he be a middle of the road guy,
promoting neither and letting market forces determine the winner?
Gore might not be in such a bad position for accepting defeat. He may be
well aware the economy is heading for a recession. And when Bush is blamed
for the recession, Gore can gloat that his administration would have
prevented it.
The Euro is rising pretty steadily against the dollar. It is now at 1 � =
0.92 $US.

Gore received only 48.6% of the popular vote; Bush got
48.3%. The difference has no practical significance
except to those who are looking for a reason to
discredit Bush.
