I know a librarian (I beleive at NYU) who told me that the pages and book
sizes are listed in cm as a standard practice in libraries.
This is why some time ago I had a big e-mail exchange with Amazon.com which
lists their book sizes in inches without even an SI unit in brackets. They
told me flat out that they are an American company so, in other words "back
off". I sent them copies of the laws and national standards but all I got is
that it has been forwarded to the department in charge. (don't call us we'll
call you).
Does anyone know if the ISBN catalog has listings in cm? Or that the
librarians really use cm?

I went into my office library and set the computer to
Metric in the control panel. This will show all the
page settings in cms instead of inches.
There is no rule that we should follow imperial only.
Setting the computers to Metric in public and office
libraries will prompt many people to learn and use
metric system atleast in computers.
I request everyone to do this as long as it is not
illegal in your office/public library.
