So, I guess all of the geophysicists ought to change their gravity
     anomaly maps.

Why kg? I was taught that the upper case prefixes denoted
multiplication and the lower case prefixes denoted division. The
     difference between MOhm and mOhm.

Sid Bennett asked in USMA 16120:

According to the metric bible the gal is a CGS unit with a special name.
        1 Gal = 1 cm/s2 = 10^-2 m/s2.
Hence the gal is not an SI unit.
