It is too bad that football/soccer has FFU roots. It could be another
poster boy for metric in sports, but American commentators on the game never
speak the "M" words. It is almost a joy to them to be able to speak FFU in
a world sport. If FFU can feel at home in football, then maybe the
Americans can reintroduce the mile, yard, foot and more into all
international sports. Maybe even the olympics. Wouldn't they love it more
then?

I even saw on ESPN a few weeks ago the NFL sponsored a an American football
match in Germany. A match between a "Frankfurt" team and a "Berlin" team.
The jerseys all had American names on them, so obviously the players were
all Americans. But, what a subtle way to introduce FFU into European
sports.

Those who think the US is just going to roll over and go metric are very
sadly mistaken. They will do everything in their power to see that FFU not
only does not disappear from the world scene, but becomes the dominant
system worldwide. FFU is gaining more ground then it is losing and even
establishing footholds in many markets, relying on the apathy of people
towards measurement systems. While our members get a thrill over drips and
drops, FFU supporters are rejoicing over torrents.

As I said before, until the EU becomes a viable world power, the diminishing
of FFU is only a dream among us supporters. As long as the US has control
and the dollar remains the currency of choice in the economy of the world,
FFU will spread it's influence like a cancer.

Mark my word!

John
