This may be true in Germany, but certainly not in France and many other European countries, where use of VISA, EUROCARD, etc. cards is quite common. We even have special cards (MONEO in France, PROTON in Belgium) which are "electronic purses": you load them at your bank (or even at home through the Internet) and you use them to purchase your newspaper or your bread. It's time for Germany to become a modern country as far as banking system is concerned! Louis
