I wonder why Madan wonders (above) about the euro. Does he think that the euro should mimic the American currency? Why should it? Why doesn't he wonder about the American currency? Why doesn't the American currency mimic the euro (and most other currencies, including most of the pre-euro currencies in the countries that now use the euro)? The euro sequence of coins and bills is based on a logical sequence of 1, 2, 5, 10, ... There are other possible simple sequences, but this one appears to work well everywhere else.
