Thanks to the TABD, the U.S. going metric inch by inch. The TABD literally
took on nuts and bolts when it achieved simplification of the U.S. Fastener
Quality Act.

>From the Salt Lake Tribune:

The United States generally uses millimetres and centimetres to measure
nuts and bolts for cars and planes, but sticks to feet and inches on most
other products.

"Business would like the trans-Atlantic cooperation to move forward at a
much greater speed," said Michael Treschow, chairman of cell phone
manufacturer Ericsson. "Instead of moving forward inch by inch it is time to
go metric and start measuring success in meters."

The TABD speech was made in October of 2001. The Salt Lake quote must be
much newer. If people like Michael Treschow are moving up in the ranks of
the TABD, they may be in a position to undo the damage done by Bernot and
her followers. Let's pay attention to Michael and see if he moves the TABD
to be a force to convert the US and not a force to oppose European and
world-wide metric initiatives.
