Terry Simpson asked in USMA 22902:
Can I use 'metric', 'metric-system' and 'SI' as synonyms?

And if something is 'non-SI' is it also 'non-metric'?

SI is the modern sub-set of the metric system. SI was finally
adopted by the Confrence Gnrale des Poids et Mesures in 1960, It
had been proposed by the Interntional Union of Physics some time
before 1948. Many metric units are non-SI and are considered to be
obsolete.
